Apps for a healthy productive life - Meditation addition

I have been meditating for over 5 years and I am so glad I have been exposed to it for as long as I have. I no longer am solely comitted to one style of meditation and have learnt the value in having multiple reasources so you can do whats right for you. You can type in meditation into the apple store and you could spend ours going through them all. To save you time I have compiled a list of my favourites.

Insight timer

Insight timer is the app I have used for the longest and most frequent amount of time. It is free and has a number of fantastic features so there is something for everyone. Here's some of my favourite things about the app...

- The timer - When doing your own practice whether it be meditation, a breathing exercise or affirmations setting a traditional timer bell can be harsh when coming out of a calm state of mind and being. For years I would peak my eyes open to check how long I had left to meditate but now with this function a peaceful gong tells me when to come back to earth.

- Sleep, beginners and children categories provide an opportunity to personalise your needs. You can play bedtime stories for your children (or yourself no judgement), have someone talk you through a visualisation to start your day or listen to one of 1000's of sleep tracks.

Melissa Ambrosini guided meditations

Unfortuantly this does not come in an app form however, you can access the meditations through Melissa's website and download them onto your device. Whilst you pay for a a selection of meditations the value of these are incrediable. The quality of the music and soundscapes blended with her perfect guidance and prompts sets you up for the day, sleep or a state of grattitude just to name a few.

One Giant Mind

One giant mind is a free app with a free 30 day beginners course that helps beginners or people looking to recommit to a regular practice.

Down dog

Whilst this is not a meditation app it would be wrong to not include it. It is a free customisable yoga app that allows you too choose how long you want to do yoga for, what type of yoga and what level of practice you are add. Additional features include choosing your instructor and specific goals like hip opening or flexibility. Most of these capabilities are free and a yoga class is generated for you based on these things. You can move your body for as little as 7 minutes or as long as 40 minutes. Its a app I use frequently when I cannot make it to a class or my practice is slipping.
