Winter Wellness : Spice up your warm lemon water this winter!!!

Spice up your warm lemon water this winter with these superpowered fresh ingrediants.

The three ingrediants!!
Whilst volunteering at a retreat dring summer one of my responsibilities was preparing the morning tea. Whilst I prepared this tea nearly everyday for seven weeks it wasn't until I returned home and winter knocked on  my door that I craved it. The trendy #lemonwater has made waves for its immune boosting, alkalising and digestive superpowers. However, the practce of reparing the tea the night before and sipping it first thing in the morning is just as much of a self-care practice as it is a diet and lifestyle choice

Tumeric, Ginger and Lemon Tea

Amounts as given in picture
two small slices of fresh tumeric
one medium slice of fresh ginger
1cm thickness slice of lemon

Prepare the ingrediants and place in a jar, thermoflask or teapot (whatever you prefer). Pour hot water over ingrediant and fill chosen storage method till around 1/3 full. Allow to steep and in the morning strain and top up with hot water. While I am sick I add raw honey for anti-bacteial benefits but honey is optional. Yiu can also just ass lemon rind without the pith to avoid bitterness but I like some lemon juice in the water rather than purely an infusion. Avoid steeping too much lemon as it can be bitter when steeped.

Souring the ingrediants: on rare occasions I get fresh tumeric in semi bulk from my local supermarket on special and then slice and freeze the pieces to keep it fresh. However, Asian supermarkets usually stock it, farmers markets and organic stores like Chantal Organics in Napier. Ginger should be reasonaby easy to source and available at supermarkets. i always prefer to buy organic also.
